pointer(견종)

pointer(Pointer)는, 「포인팅(지시한다)」를 실시해 사냥감의 위치를 인간에게 알리는 새사냥개의 총칭.「포인팅」이란, 사냥감의 전방으로 멈춰 서서, 자세를 낮게 하고 코끝을 쑥 내밀어, 한쪽 발을 드는 포즈이다. 한층 더 pointer는, 인간의 명령을 받고 풀숲에 뛰어들어, 사냥감을 날아 오르게 하는 것으로, 주인의 사격을 돕는다. 성격은 일을 떨어지면, 온후, 가족에게 응석부려 조차 한다. 종류는 영계 pointer, 미국계 pointer에 크게 나눌 수 있고 있다.

세트, 즉, 사냥감의 전에 주저 앉는 것으로 사냥감의 위치를 알리는 셋타와 함께, 새사냥개종의 대표로 자리매김되어 유명한 영어・pointer와 저먼・pointer 외에 덴마크나 프랑스 원산의 품종이 알려지지만, 단지 pointer라고 말하면, 특히 영어・pointer를 가리킨다.
