마리안누・노스

마리안누・노스(Marianne North, 1830년 10월 24일- 1890년 8월 30일)는, 영국의 여행가, 박물학자, 식물 화가.이스트・사섹스、헤이스팅스출신.

인물

명가인 노스 남작의 가계로 태어나 아버지 흘레데릭・노스는 1770년부터 1782년까지 영국의 수상을 맡은 인물이었다.오페라 가수 샤르롯트・세인톤=드르비의 아래에서 성악을 배운 적도 있었지만, 1855년의 어머니의 사후는 아버지와 함께 각국을 돌았다.

노스의 식물화

1869년에 부친도 돌아가신 이후는, 세계 각국을 돌아 식물의 사생을 실시하고 있다.1875년부터 1876년에 내기 일본을 방문하고 있어 요코하마, 코베, 교토등의 도시를 돌고 있다.

그녀의 사후 런던에 있는 왕립 식물원 큐 가든에는 그녀의 식물화를 거둔 마리안누・노스・갤러리를 개설했다.또 아카테트과의 노르티아속 등 그녀에게 연관된 이름을 가지는 식물도 있다.
