대학원의 석사과정 2 학년이었던 1954년에 아카마츠 히데오, 이구치 히로시 남편과 함께 쿠라르, 트케와 같은 다환방향족 탄화수소계의 페릴렌에 할로겐을 첨가했을 때의 자성을 조사하는 실험을 실시해, 그야말로 graphite인것 같은 흑색의 물질에 매우 강한 상자성이 나타나는 것이 판명되어 고체내의 전자의 이동에 관련하고 있다라는 가정에 근거해 전기 전도도를 측정했는데, 페릴렌의 취소 착체가 매우 높은 도전도(8Ω·cm)를 나타내는 일에 의해 전하 이동 착체를 발견한[²][³].이 발견은 이윽고 유기 반도체의 개발로 발전한다.
