동남극히 곳간 톤

5.5억 년전의 고생대 초기에 있어서는, 동남극히와 오스트레일리아는 합체 하고 있었다(보라색의 부분)

동남극히 곳간 톤(East Antarctic craton)은, 남극의 대부분을 구성해 있는, 태고부터 존재하고 있는 곳간 톤이다.18억 년전은 누나 대륙의 일부에서 만났다.고생대 초기에 걸치고, 동남극은 곤드와나 대륙의 일부에서 만났지만, 중생대의 곤드와나 대륙의 분열때, 다른 주요한 대륙으로부터 분리했다.분열 후의 시기를 통하고, 서남극히를 구성해 있는 테레인(지괴)이 부가되어 현재의 남극이 형성되었다.
