존・매크(철학자)

존・매크(John Leslie Mackie, 1917년 8월 25일- 1981년 12월 12일)와는 오스트레일리아의 철학자.

메타 윤리학의 연구 영역에 있어 도덕적으로 관한 착오설을 주장한 것으로 알려져 있어 대표작에 「윤리학」(Ethics: Inventing Right and Wrong)등이 있다.

경력

1917년에 시드니에서 시드니 대학의 교수인 부친과 학교 교원의 모친과의 사이에 태어나 시드니 대학에서 철학자 존・앤더슨의 지도를 받아 1938년에 졸업한 후에 옥스포드 대학의 어리얼・컬리지로 1940년까지 배웠다.제2차 세계대전으로는 공병으로서 중동과 이탈리아에서 종군 했다.1955년부터 4년간에 걸쳐서 뉴질랜드의 오타고 대학에서 교편을 취해, 1959년부터는 시드니 대학에서 4년간 가르쳤다.1963년에 영국에 건너게 되어, 요크 대학에서 1967년까지 철학의 교수로서 근무했다.옥스포드 대학의 연구자로서 맞이할 수 있어 1974년에 브리티쉬・아카데미의 회원이 된다.1981년에 옥스포드에서 암에 의해 사망했다.
