홍해주

홍해주의 위치

홍해주(Red Sea state)는, 수단의 주.수단 북동부에 위치해, 홍해에 접한다.북쪽을 이집트, 남동을 에리트레아, 서쪽을 Nile강주, 남쪽을 캇사라주와 접한다.지방으로서는 캇사라 지방에 속한다.면적 218,887 km□, 인구 70만명(2000년 추계).주 도는 포토 수단.기후적으로는 전역이 사막기후에 속해, 매우 건조하고 있다.주 북부는 배 이브・트라이앵글로 불리는 이집트와의 국경 분쟁 지역이며, 지도에서는 수단령으로서 그려지는 것이 많지만, 2000년 이후 배-이브・트라이앵글의 지배권은 이집트가 잡고 있어 수단은 항의를 하고 있는 상태이다.

세계 유산 산가네이브 해양 국립공원과 돈고나브만=무캇워섬해양 국립공원이 연안 및 난바다에 존재한다.
