오드리바에는, 쌍시목의 과의 하나인 오드리바에과(Empididae)에 소속하는 종의 총칭.오드리바에과에 속하는 종은, 세계에서 3000종 이상이 기록되고 있어[¹], 그 대부분이 전북구로부터 발견되고 있다.오드리바에과의 종은, 다른 오드리바에상과의 종과 같이 포식성으로, 다른 쌍시목에 비해 매우 다채로운 형태를 가지는 군인[¹].또한 일본에서 부르는 이름에 파리라고 붙지만, 분류학적으로는 아브에 가까운 동료이다.

오드리바에는, 유충, 성충 모두 포식성의 아브의 동료이며, 주로 다른 쌍시목곤충을 포식 하고 있는[¹].매우 광범위한 지역에서 발견되고 있어 물가 또는 육지의 양쪽 모두에 생식 하고 있다.또 일부의 오드리바에의 동료로는, 매우 복잡한 구애 행동이 알려져 있어 수컷이 비단에 감싼 먹이를 메스에 내밀어 구애하는 Hilara maura[²]나, 수컷이 영양가의 낮은 사냥감을 메스에 보내, 「혼인의 의식」을 실시하는 Empis snoddyi[³]등이라고 하는 종이 알려져 있다.

분류

오드리바에과에 속하는 종은 형태적으로도 매우 다양했었기 때문에, 원래 아과로 되어 있던 만큼 류군의 일부가, 과로서 독립한 취급이 되는 일이 있는[¹].그 생각에 따르면, 세다카오드리바에과(Hybotidae), Atelestidae과가 독립한 만큼 류군으로서 다루어진다.또 타마오바에 아과(Brachystomatinae)를 과로서 독립시킬 생각도 있다.또 일찌기 오드리바에과의 아과인 네지레오바에 아과(Microphorinae)는, 아시나가바에과의 아과의 하나로서 다루어지고 있는[⁴][⁵].
