프레포뮤레이션 연구(—연구, preformulation)와는 제재 연구의 제일 단계이며, 스크리닝에 의해서 얻을 수 있던 후보 화합물(원약)의 물성이나 안정성의 조사나, 생물 약제 학문적 평가를 실시해, 제형의 결정 등 후의 제재화 연구의 아웃라인을 결정한다.
